The Westin Grand Munich Arabellapark Hotel - Monachium

The hotel is a five star one, its service and conditions are excellent, but it is a bit far away from the city center.

Travelers to Europe are used to the European hotel experience: tiny rooms, poor or non-existent air conditioning, cramped showers, boutique feel, etc. The Westin Arabellapark, on the other hand, is more of an American hotel experience: huge lobby, little history, immense bathroom, large room, and great air conditioning. Our only beef was that breakfast was not included. A hotel this nice should not nickel-and-dime its customers. Breakfast is included just about everywhere in Europe -- but not at the Westin Arabellapark.

The reason one pays for a 5-star hotel is to assure oneself near-perfection of the hotel operations. In my opinion, this hotel qualifies as a very good 3-star, or possibly 4-star. Although the service, staff, overall condition of the hotel is good, we noticed several discrepancies that we would not have expected from a 5-star. (1) The linens on the bed were not clean when we arrived. (2) There was a continuous sewage odor coming from the shower drain that we were not able to eliminate. (3) The fan in the bathroom didn't work (which may have helped with the odor.) (4) During checkout, we had a ton of charges on our bill that were not ours (the hotel staff did however removed them without hesitation). (5) Things typically included in the room rate were "extra" - and at a very high premium when compared to other high-end EU hotels. When using the hotel services, it felt like they were always try to up-sell you on something. It felt a bit like being on a used car lot. (6) Cerain services were billed at a higher rate than advertised (Our bill for internet useage was three-times higher than what the literature in the room indicated). (7) The hotel was hosting some convention, and chose to put the primary convention check-in and assembly area in the middle of the lobby (as opposed to in a conference room or something). This caused very long lines in the hotel lobby for things like the concierge, a cup of coffee, use of the dining areas, etc. In summary, although the hotel was very nice, and the staff very friendly, it is in my opinion not as well managed as many other 5-star hotels I have stayed at. In addition, this place is not for the budget-minded traveller, primarily due to all the nickel-and-dime charges they hit you up for.

This hotel was wonderful. However we will stay in the Arabella Sheraton in the middle of Munich the next time so that we can walk through the Old section of this great cosmopoliton city without having to take a taxi two times per day.{Once for sightseeing and once more for dining at night}

Bei Ankunft waren von 8 der bestellten Zimmer nur 2 verfügbar. Ich musste 45 Minuten warten, bis die Zimmer bezugsfertig waren und dies abends gegen 19.00 Uhr!!!! Das ist nicht empfehlenswert.

Wir waren absolut zufrieden,Das allerbeste waren die Betten, bzw. die unvergleichlichen Matratzen. Nie so gut geschlafen.

Tolles Hotel, Super Frühstück, sehr guter Wellness-Bereich, schöne Ausstattung, nette Leute - sehr empfehlenswert ! Im Internet auf Preisangebote achten - lohnt sich !
